The Wonderful Feast Day: Saint Michael!

St Michael, Is one of the Seven Archangels and one of the three actually named within Holy Scripture. (The other two being St Gabriel and St Raphael) St Michael is best know for defeating the devil. The most popular story of St. Michael is in Revelation 12: 7-9. He called by God, to lead the army of heaven to fight against the army of wicked devil.

Within the book of Daniel St Michael is regarded to as, " The protector of Israel"

The word 'Michael' means, " Who is Like God." St Michael is also referred to as, " The Chief Prince" (From Daniel) St Michael is always depicted wearing armor, to represent his protection, and battle with the devil, when he had destroyed the devil.  St. Michael Is depicted with either a Spear or a Sword and also, The Scale of Justice. Saint Michael holds the scale of Justice because, he is the one that decides who is in and who's out.

He holds the Scale to be in balance with mercy and Justice. For having to scale merc…

We All Have Barriers: Tear them down and look at the other side!

At the end of  my street, there is a long, slow moving river that runs throughout the city. Of course their is ups and downs, to living near a river, but the biggest downfall us getting all the dear that eat our gardens, the skunks that stink up the street, and the odd woodchuck. When a new family, moved into the house beside mine, the decided to build a fence to keep away the wildlife that is potentially dangerous to their garden.

In todays Gospel reading, Jesus shares with us the Parable of Lazarus and the rich man. The rich man lives selfish, and enjoys his beautiful purple cloth. Sitting just outside his gate is the poor man Lazarus who sits there with sores, and dogs licking at them. Trapped within the barrier of his own selfishness, the rich man, dined wonderfully each night, making sure he was perfectly fine-not worrying about others. He had set up a barrier between him and the real poor world. A barrier between life and death: Rich and poor.

Who Are You Praying For?

Yesterday, I had run into people whom defiantly need my prayers. A stranger crossing the street with a cane moving very slowly, a man who is going through a lot with Family, and another women whom just asked for a prayer. At that instant, (besides the women whom asked me to) it clicked for me to pray for them. It was a natural response I had. But I do not get that feeling to pray when I pass by a person with an expensive car or someone whom is  walking perfectly fine in the store.  Why? because looking at how things are they look perfectly fine.
In the second reading of today's readings, Saint Paul tells us to send up our prayers, petitions, thanksgivings and supplications for everyone-  including kings, and all in authority. Those in a higher rank, those with a better title, or even those who's life looks fine, need our prayers the most. They are the ones who need the petitions, prayers, and supplications. They may look fine, but doesn't mean they are- we don&…

And Above all Clothe Your Self with Love

Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience."
Colossians 3:12
Within my high school, or any high school for that manner, you will always have that few people whom are obsessed with fashion, and they will all coordinate what they wear and when. Then you have people like me, that put on a pair of jeans, and the first shirt I look at in my closest.  I am not that much of a fashion person, although I do buy new clothes that I like, I'm not a fanatic that stays up to date on it.

St Paul tells us to put on the clothes of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.  He tells us that being part of Gods People we must put on these. Why? To receive God. To live the life that God has planned for us. Through doing this we can greet others and bring them into the kindness God offers. But we must clothes our selves, to become the disciple, longed by Jesus, that we must become.

It's Lost...- Sunday Readings

It was the first full week back to school, and before the second class of the week, I had lost my brand new grey water bottle. The next day, I had a new green water bottle, which I was determined to keep safe. But I had lost it by the end of the day. I never found the grey water bottle but, thankfully I found my green one the next day. Since I found it, I have lost it 6 others times, (including Friday) during the week.  My mother now sees me having a water bottle a hopeless cause, since I lose it every day. But how happy I am when I find it every time.
Taking a look at this weekend’s Gospel we are given three scenarios of being lost and being found again. The shepherd going out to find the sheep, while leaving the 99 behind, the woman who lost a coin out of her ten and the father whom lost his son in many forms. Looking at these readings, after finding the lost animal, coin, and son, none of them focus on the fact that they lost it, but rather they rej…

9.11

12 years ago today, the world was shocked by the gruesome attacks in the United States of America.  Not only changing the way things are done but changing the way others look at each other. People turning on people  and pride vs pride.

God,
I know you are near,  I know you can hear me, I know you are with me,  I know you are always protecting me,
Today, we remember, those whom have passed,  due to horrible attacks.  We ask, O heavenly God,  for your blessing upon those families,  whom are scared with this tradigy.
For the souls of those whom died,  We pray that they be at peace, and be  brought joyfully into the heavenly kingdom.
May you send peace in this world O Father.  May we learn to put aside our differences  and to make peace!
AMEN

Success- Do You Have It?

This coming week  will be my first full week back at school. As I head back to school, I was to succeed. I'm not one to slack off, or miss class just cause. It is important to me that I do well, during the last couple of years I have left. Like most people, I do get nervous for tests, and praying to God that I will do well.  Obviously, I aim to succeed. I don't want to fail-which I believe is my biggest fear. As I head back to school, I prayed to the Blessed Virgin Mary to help, especially when I find things difficult.

Outside of the classroom, there isn't a mark you get if you succeed or if you fail. Sadly, however, in this egoistic world, our success has become determined by how much we obtain. Money, possessions, work, home, kids, ect.. It is determined on how well of we are, if we are rich or poor. This isn't what it's about! There is no marks, it isn't the things we have acquired or obtained it's whats with God.

Do Not Be Afraid : Don't Judge a Book by It's Cover

Do not be afraid, little flock,  for your Father has been  pleased to give you the kingdom. Luke 12:32

Last week, I was going with my father to go and take pictures at the other end of the city. To get to our destination, we drove through downtown. Nothing wrong there- it was me filled with the stereotypes of the evil that lurks in the Downtown.

Living Humility

Within the first two weeks of his outstanding papacy Pope Francis made some small but rather meaningful changes. One change he made, which was obvious the day he met with Religious Leaders for the first time was the level of his chair, and which chair. He had gotten rid of the elevated platform on which his chair was, and put his chair on the ground. Also, he got the simple white chair instead of the 'throne' he had before. All the others gather had the same simple chair.

Whats is now at the same level? Their hearts. All connected-not one higher than the other. Showing love and putting away the differences. That is humility. Taking away all differences. Taking away your high position and showing love. You CANNOT be humble and have your heart at a higher level (literally and metaphorically)

In this weekends first reading, we are told, "What is too sublime for you, seek not," What we find, great and wonderful we must not seek. But seek others. Seek the l…
