The Great Servant

"Whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant and whoever wants to be first must be your slave- just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."
Matthew 20: 26-28

Following Christ is not something that will make us a great king, or the greatest queen. Following Christ however, is humbling and heart opening. Jesus Christ did not build Gods Kingdom on earth through a dictatorship. Rather he showed Gods kingdom through his actions of service. Service is the heart of following Christ. Jesus` Goal was to make "healed servant." These are people who were lost, broken, and confused and transformed into serving people. When St Peters Mother in law was sick and Jesus healed her, she began to serve them. We to are healed servants. We must freely give ourselves to the service of others. Lent especially is a time when we should freely give ourselves to others. At the end of lent, during the Holy Tridium, we will celebrate the fullest act of service. The act of service that gave birth to Gods Kingdom on earth. The act of redemption that freed us from our sins. So Let us, this lent give our selves to others because When we do, we truly become great in Gods Eyes.
